Background: Dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) has received extensive attention in clinical practice; however, a quantitative assessment of published literature in this domain is presently lacking. This study thus aimed to characterize the application conditions, developmental trends, and research hot spots of DECT using bibliometric analysis. Methods: All literature on DECT was retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) on January 22, 2023. The co-occurrence, cooperation network, and co-citation of countries, institutions, references, authors, journals, and keywords were analyzed using CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and R-bibliometrix software. Results: In total, 4,720 original articles and reviews were included. The number of publications related to DECT has rapidly increased since 2006. The USA (n=1,662) and Mayo Clinic (n=178) were found to be the most productive country and institution, respectively. The most cited article was published by Johnson TRC et al., while the article published by McCollough CH et al. in 2015 had the most co-citations. Schoepf UJ ranked first with most articles among 16,838 authors. The journal with the most published articles was European Radiology, with 411 publications. The timeline analysis indicated that material decomposition was the most recent topic, followed by gout, radiomics, proton therapy, and bone marrow edema. Conclusions: An increasing number of researchers are committed to researching DECT, with the USA making the most significant contributions in this area. Prior studies have primarily concentrated on cardiovascular diseases, and contemporary hot spots include expansion into to other fields, such as iodine quantification, deep learning, and bone marrow edema.

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to observe the color rebound and rebound rates of non-pulp discolored teeth within 1 year after routine internal bleaching to guide clinical practice and prompt prognosis. METHODS: In this work, the efficacy of bleaching was observed in 20 patients. The color of discolored teeth was measured by using a computerized colorimeter before bleaching; immediately after bleaching; and at the 1st, 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th months after bleaching. The L*, a*, and b* values of the color of cervical, mesial, and incisal parts of the teeth were obtained, and the color change amounts ΔE*, ΔL*, Δa*, and Δb* were calculated. The overall rebound rate (P*) and the color rebound velocity (V*) were also analyzed over time. RESULTS: In 20 patients following treatment, the average ΔE* of tooth color change was 14.99. After bleaching, the neck and middle of the teeth ΔE* and ΔL* decreased in the 1st, 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th months, and the differences were statistically significant. Meanwhile, from the 9th month after bleaching, the rebound speed was lower than that in the 1st month, and the difference was statistically significant. The incisal end of the tooth ΔE* and ΔL* decreased in the 6th, 9th, and 12th months after bleaching, and the differences were statistically significant. No significant difference was found in the rebound speed between time points. However, this rate settled after the 9th month, with an average color rebound rate of 30.11% in 20 patients. CONCLUSIONS: The results indicated that internal bleaching could cause a noticeable color change on pulpless teeth. The color rebound after bleaching was mainly caused by lightness (L*), which gradually decreased with time, and it was slightly related to a* and b*. The color of the teeth after internal bleaching rebounded to a certain extent with time, but the color rebound speed became stable from the 9th month. Clinically, secondary internal bleaching can be considered at this time according to whether the colors of the affected tooth and the adjacent tooth are coordinated and depending on the patient's needs.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a high incidence worldwide that causes a heavy physical and psychological burden to patients. It is urgent to further reveal the pathological mechanism and effective treatment of SCI. Mitochondrial dysfunction plays an important role in the disease progression of SCI. As a mitochondrial membrane protein, phosphoglycerate mutase 5 (PGAM5) is mainly involved in mitochondrial function and mitosis to modulate cellular physiological functions, but the roles of PGAM5 in spinal tissues remain to be unreported after SCI. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of PGAM5 in SCI mice and its relationship with neuroinflammation. The results showed that the mitochondrial membrane protein PGAM5 was involved in microglia activation after SCI, and PGAM5 deletion could improve mitochondrial dysfunction (including abnormal mtDNA, ATP synthases, and ATP levels, Cyt C expression, and ROS and rGSH levels) in spinal cord tissue after SCI, Arg1/iNOS mRNA level, iNOS expression, and pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-1ß, and IL-18 levels. In vitro, H2O2 increased TNF-α, IL-1ß, and IL-18 levels in BV2 cells, and PGAM5-sh and Nrf2 activators significantly reversed H2O2-induced iNOS expression and proinflammatory cytokine production. Furthermore, IP/Western blotting results revealed that PGAM5-sh treatment significantly reduced the interaction of PGAM5 with Nrf2 and enhanced the nuclear translocation of Nrf2 in BV2 cells. The data suggested that PGAM5 was involved in the cascade of oxidative stress and inflammatory response in microglia via facilitating the expression level of Nrf2 in the nucleus after SCI. It provided a reference for clarifying the pathological mechanism and therapeutic target of SCI.

Objective: Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive gynecologic technique that is widely practiced in outpatient procedures. The choice of anesthesia is a key factor for the surgical outcome and postoperative recovery. This study was conducted to assess the effects of different anesthetic modalities based on dexmedetomidine in outpatient hysteroscopic surgery anesthesia. Methods: We did a systematic review and network meta-analysis of outpatient hysteroscopic surgery anesthesia. We searched Pubmed, Embase, and Cochrane-Library from database inception to December 31, 2021. Duplicate literature was excluded and screened separately for initial screening at three tiers: article title, abstract, and full text before deciding whether to include in this study against the above criteria. Results after analysis of categorical variables were expressed as ORR Ratio (95% CI) and continuous variables were expressed as Mean Difference (95% CI). Data collation and analyses were performed using the gemtc package in the R language. Results: Four trials were finally included with data for 301 participants, three anesthetic drugs, and five anesthetic modalities. A fixed-effects model was used for the different anesthesia modalities without significant heterogeneity (all I2<20%) in the analysis of adverse events (AEs), the incidence of respiratory depression, operative time, and time in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU). Remimazolam tosylate was associated with a lower incidence of AEs versus dexmedetomidine, and significant differences between dexmedetomidine and propofol were absent. Propofol and various doses of remimazolam tosylate resulted in a lower incidence of respiratory depression versus dexmedetomidine, with an absence of differences between propofol and dexmedetomidine. The operative time for different anesthetic modalities was, in descending order, dexmedetomidine < remimazolam tosylate (0.60 mg/kg/h <0.48 mg/kg/h) < propofol < remimazolam tosylate (1.00 mg/kg/h), despite the absence of intergroup differences. Propofol was associated with a longer time in PACU versus dexmedetomidine and remimazolam tosylate (1.00 mg/kg/h); those of dexmedetomidine and remimazolam tosylate (1.00 mg/kg/h) were similar. The time in PACU for different anesthetic modalities, in descending order, was dexmedetomidine < remimazolam tosylate (1.00 mg/kg/h) < propofol. Propofol was associated with a longer time in PACU versus dexmedetomidine and remimazolam tosylate. Conclusion: In outpatient hysteroscopic surgery anesthesia, dexmedetomidine was associated with a higher incidence of AEs and respiratory depression and a shorter operative time and time in PACU versus remimazolam tosylate and propofol. Remimazolam tosylate showed safety benefits with a similar duration of PACU stay versus dexmedetomidine. Therefore, the choice of anesthetic drugs in outpatient surgery requires consideration of the patient's conditions and preferences.

Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) is an important neuropeptide expressed in the nerve fibers during bone repair. Here, we aimed to pinpoint the role of CGRP in the osteogenic differentiation property of human periodontal ligament stem cells (hPDLSCs) and the resultant repair of alveolar bone defect. The key factor related to the osteogenic differentiation of hPDLSCs was retrieved from the GEO database. After extraction from hADSCs (hADSC-EVs) and identification, EVs were subjected to coculture with hPDLSCs, in which the expression patterns of CGRP and osteogenic differentiation marker proteins (ALP, RUNX2, and OCN), as well as ALP activity, were detected. A novel cell-free tissue-engineered bone (TEB) comprised of PLGA/pDA and hADSC-EVs was implanted into the rats with alveolar bone defects to evaluate the repair of alveolar bone defects. CGRP was enriched in hADSC-EVs. hADSCs delivered CGRP to hPDLSCs through EVs, thereby promoting the osteogenic differentiation potential of hPDLSCs. The PLGA/pDA-EV scaffold released EVs slowly, and its implantation into the rat alveolar bone defect area significantly induced bone defect repair, which was reversed by further knockdown of CGRP. In conclusion, our newly discovered cell-free system consisted of hADSC-EVs, and PLGA/pDA scaffold shows promising function in repairing alveolar bone defects.

AIMS: The diabetic wound environment is accompanied with prolonged inflammation leading to impaired wound healing in diabetic foot ulcer (DFU). Our study illustrated the molecular mechanisms by which Forkhead box M1 (FOXM1) enhanced M2 polarization and wound healing of DFU. METHODS: Diabetes was modeled in vivo by streptozotocin injection in rats and in vitro by exposure to high glucose in human dermal fibroblasts (HDF). Macrophages were exposed to IL-4 to induce M2 phenotype polarization. Ectopic expression or knockdown of FOXM1 was performed to observe collagen deposition, angiogenesis, the proliferation and migration of HDF, as well as macrophage polarization. RESULTS: FOXM1 was lowly expressed in the wound tissue of DFU rats. In vitro experiments showed that silencing FOXM1 reversed the M2 polarization-induced promotion of HDF proliferation and migration. We further found that FOXM1 bound to the promoter region of SEMA3C to elevate its expression, and SEMA3C upregulated NRP2 and activated the Hedgehog signaling pathway. Silencing of SMO, a signal transducer in the Hedgehog pathway, negated the promoting effect of FOXM1 overexpression in M2 polarization and HDF proliferation. CONCLUSIONS: Thus, our results suggest that targeting transcription factor FOXM1 may provide a therapeutic target for promoting wound healing in DFU.

Background: Spinal cord injury (SCI), a major public health problem, has no effective treatment. A large number of studies have confirmed that histone deacetylases (HDACs) are involved in the physiologic processes that occur following SCI. We tried to uncover the potential neuroprotective role of entinostat (a class I HDAC inhibitor) in SCI. Methods: We conducted a study on a preclinical mouse model of SCI and OGD-induced neuronal damage to present the role of entinostat by the analysis of motor function, histopathologic damage, local NLRP3 inflammasome activation, and neuronal damage. Results: The results showed that entinostat suppressed HDAC activation (including HDAC1 and HDAC3 expression), improved the grip strength and BMS score, spinal edema, cell death, and local NLRP3 inflammasome activation in the spinal cord following SCI. Furthermore, entinostat significantly increased OGD-inhibited neuronal activity and decreased PI-positive cells, HDAC activation, caspase-1 activation, IL-1ß and IL-18 levels, and NLRP3 expression. Conclusion: In summary, we first documented that entinostat improved the motor function, histopathologic damage, and local inflammatory response and NLRP3 inflammasome activation in the spinal cord following SCI and also presented the neuroprotective role of OGD-induced neuronal damage via the NLRP3 inflammasome. Thus, our study has the potential to reveal the interaction between the HDAC and NLRP3 inflammasome in the pathologic process as well as SCI and further promote the clinical indications of HDACi entinostat and clinical treatment for the inflammatory response after SCI.

China is a country of vast territory with complicated geographical environment and climate conditions. With the rapid progress of the Chinese BeiDou satellite navigation system (BDS); more accurate tropospheric models must be applied to improve the accuracy of navigation and positioning. Based on the formula of the Saastamoinen and Callahan models; this study develops two single-site tropospheric models (named SAAS_S and CH_S models) for the Chinese region using radiosonde data from 2005 to 2012. We assess the two single-site tropospheric models with radiosonde data for 2013 and zenith tropospheric delay (ZTD) data from four International GNSS Service (IGS) stations and compare them to the results of the Saastamoinen and Callahan models. The experimental results show that: the mean accuracy of the SAAS_S model (bias: 0.19 cm; RMS: 3.19 cm) at all radiosonde stations is superior to those of the Saastamoinen (bias: 0.62 cm; RMS: 3.62 cm) and CH_S (bias: -0.05 cm; RMS: 3.38 cm) models. In most Chinese regions; the RMS values of the SAAS_S and CH_S models are about 0.51~2.12 cm smaller than those of their corresponding source models. The SAAS_S model exhibits a clear improvement in the accuracy over the Saastamoinen model in low latitude regions. When the SAAS_S model is replaced by the SAAS model in the positioning of GNSS; the mean accuracy of vertical direction in the China region can be improved by 1.12~1.55 cm and the accuracy of vertical direction in low latitude areas can be improved by 1.33~7.63 cm. The residuals of the SAAS_S model are closer to a normal distribution compared to those of the Saastamoinen model. Single-site tropospheric models based on the short period of the most recent data (for example 2 years) can also achieve a satisfactory accuracy. The average performance of the SAAS_S model (bias: 0.83 cm; RMS: 3.24 cm) at four IGS stations is superior to that of the Saastamoinen (bias: -0.86 cm; RMS: 3.59 cm) and CH_S (bias: 0.45 cm; RMS: 3.38 cm) models.
